A push-in wire terminal is an electrical component used to connect wires; it allows for both wire connection and circuit disconnection. Occasionally, it becomes necessary to remove a wire from the terminal. How is this done?
Twist-and-Release Method
This method is suitable for terminals with light-colored housings. First, insert a flat-head screwdriver along the side of the terminal and twist it slightly around its axis; this causes the terminal mechanism to release, allowing you to gently pull the wire out by hand.
Tool-Assisted Removal Method
This method is suitable for large terminals or those with dark-colored housings. First, use bent-nose pliers or small flat-nose pliers to press down the internal spring contact while pulling the wire out by hand. If the wire is stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver or a wire-threading tool to press against the wire from the side, then use the bent-nose pliers to pull it out.
Forced Pull-Out Method
If the wire is inserted into the center hole of the terminal, the forced pull-out method can be used. This involves simply pulling the wire out with force, though care must be taken not to break the terminal itself.
