Standard Soldering Process
Pre-treatment Steps
Use a dedicated cable stripper to remove the outer jacket, corrugated outer conductor and PTFE insulation in sequence per connector specifications, exposing the required length of inner conductor. Clean the cable end and connector solder surfaces with alcohol to eliminate grease and metal particles.
Inner Conductor Soldering
Tin the cable inner conductor lightly, then insert it into the inner solder cup of the 4.3-10 female connector. Use a 35 W temperature-controlled soldering iron and apply lead-free solder to form the joint. Solder joints shall be smooth and uniform, free of cold joints or excess solder buildup. Trim surplus solder carefully with a blade to prevent damage to the silver plating on the inner conductor.
Outer Conductor Soldering
Slide the 4.3-10-K3/8-HJ connector body over the cable. Align the 3/8-inch corrugated outer conductor fully against the connector's soldering shoulder. Apply low-temperature solder for a full 360° circumferential solder joint. The solder joint provides electrical continuity between the corrugated outer conductor and connector housing. Clean residual flux once soldering finishes.
Post-processing and Inspection
Clean the entire soldered region with isopropanol to remove solder slag and flux residue. Carry out SWR, continuity and PIM tests. Fit adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing for sealing and protection after all test results meet the specified requirements.
