Assembly Process and Precision Assurance for Connector Injection Molds

The assembly process for connector injection molds involves numerous technical points and strict requirements for ensuring assembly precision. A detailed overview follows:

Component Cleaning: Before assembly, all mold components must be thoroughly cleaned to remove impurities such as residual oil, metal filings, and dust from the machining process. After cleaning, a rust inhibitor may be applied to protect the parts from rusting, which could otherwise compromise mold performance.

Component Inspection: Each component undergoes rigorous inspection for dimensional accuracy, geometric precision, and surface quality. Parts are checked for defects such as cracks, blowholes, or material shortages to ensure they meet design specifications. High-precision measuring tools are used to measure and record critical dimensions, such as those of the mold cavity and core.

Core and Cavity Assembly: Assembling the core and cavity is a critical step. Locating pins or keys are typically used to ensure precise relative positioning. During assembly, fit clearances must be carefully managed to avoid fits that are either too tight or too loose; an overly tight fit can damage components, while an overly loose fit can compromise the dimensional accuracy and aesthetic quality of the molded product.

Guidance Mechanism Assembly: The assembly precision of guidance mechanisms-such as guide pillars and guide bushings-directly affects the mold's opening and closing movements and its positioning accuracy. Installation must ensure perpendicularity and concentricity relative to the mold plates. Press-fitting or shrink-fitting methods may be used to ensure a secure installation that allows for smooth movement without binding or sticking.

Ejection Mechanism Assembly: The ejection mechanism must operate reliably and smoothly. The lengths of ejection components, such as ejector pins and sleeves, must be precisely adjusted according to the product's structure and demolding requirements. Post-assembly testing verifies balanced ejection without skewing, ensuring the product can be successfully released from the mold.

Cooling System Assembly: Assembly of the cooling system must ensure unobstructed water channels and no leakage. Water pipe fittings must be securely connected and well-sealed. Before assembly, cooling channels are cleaned and subjected to pressure testing to verify sealing integrity and flow. The distance between cooling channels and the mold cavity surface must be uniform to ensure consistent cooling performance. Gating System Assembly: The assembly of the gating system must ensure smooth, unobstructed flow channels, with accurate gate positioning and dimensions. The fit between the sprue bushing and the locating ring must be tight and precisely aligned. The shape and dimensions of the runners must meet design specifications, and the transitions connecting them to the mold cavities must be smooth to ensure the uniform and unobstructed filling of the cavities with the plastic melt.
