Three Mounting Methods for Connector Pins

Aug 15, 2026 Leave a message

Among the various components of a connector, the contact pin is critical to achieving the connector's transmission performance. Whether dealing with simple connectors (1 or 2 pins) or complex ones (hundreds of pins), a key challenge during production is ensuring the pin is securely installed in the connector body to meet user requirements. There are currently three common methods for installing contact pins:

Press-fit: The pin is forcibly pressed into the connector body to secure it.

Easy pin installation; no need to strip insulation from wires, ensuring a good electrical connection without damaging the wire.

No need to retract wires; saves on cable costs.

No need to cut the main cable; branch connections can be made at any point along the cable.

Low cost and minimal space requirements for installation.

The connector is fully insulated, allowing for cable branching without stripping the cable's insulation layer.

Epoxy-fixed: After holes are drilled in the insulator and housing, the pin is secured using epoxy resin.

High chemical resistance (resistant to acids, alkalis, and organic solvents).

Low molding shrinkage, good dimensional stability, and low risk of cracking.

Excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance.

High bonding strength; particularly suitable for products with plug-in components, as well as for the plastic encapsulation of coils and electronic devices.

Excellent electrical properties; suitable as an insulating material for high-frequency and high-voltage applications, with superior arc resistance and tracking resistance compared to standard insulating materials.

Spot-riveting: After the pin is pressed in, the housing is spot-riveted to secure it.

Simple structure and high reliability; a cost-effective method for permanent assembly and fixation.

Assembled metal components are secure, tight, and stable, offering high resistance to impact, corrosion, and weathering.

The process is vibration-free, pollution-free, and quiet; it is eco-friendly, energy-efficient, fast, and highly productive, resulting in high-quality, aesthetically pleasing assemblies.

Allows for multi-point riveting without the need for adhesives, solvents, fillers, or fasteners; features low energy consumption and compact equipment with a small footprint.
